FAITH COMMUNITIES UNITE

IN

EFFORTS TO CARE FOR CREATION

SUNDAY JANUARY 16, 2:30 to 4:30 PM

ROCK BRIDGE CHRISTIAN CHURCH

GREEN MEADOWS and BETHEL in SOUTHERN COLUMBIA

Many have been having special holiday celebrations recently, with more still to come. For this reason, over the past 2 years, we cancelled our Interfaith Care for Creation (IFCC) bi-monthly November meeting. This year, we tried to see if it would be productive to go ahead with our usual 3rd Sunday of every other month meeting following the annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Event. However, due to the length and dynamics of the Thanksgiving event, it was impossible to get enough of our members in the same place at the same time to convene our meeting and have a quorum present. Consequently, we decided we would not meet. We did, however, have the opportunity to reach individuals and other faith communities regarding our work and efforts.

We planned a brainstorming session which would be very helpful for us to all know how we would like to go forward. Since it did not take place at our aborted November meeting, it would be most helpful to know what you/everyone are/is thinking about where we would like to go from here and; specifically, if we would like to participate in bringing to Columbia and the area “Earth Hour”---the annual ‘global call to action’ on climate change, in which we help educate and raise awareness in various ways, climaxed with turning off lights and other non-essential energy use for one hour the last Saturday evening in March.

It would be most helpful and very beneficial to make our January meeting considerably more effective, efficient and, consequently, more productive if you could please take a few minutes to respond and email your thoughts/replies to these questions today, or as soon as you possibly can. I will organize any replies, share them and bring your thoughts for further discussion and consideration to our upcoming meeting, Sunday, January 16th, 2:30 PM, at Rock Bridge Christian Church, next to the fire station at Bethel and Green Meadows Rd.

Please contact me right away and spread the word about our meeting, invite everyone in your faith community to respond and make plans to attend; mark your calendars for the January 16th, 2:30 PM, IFCC meeting!

*EVERYONE WELCOME FROM ANY OR EVEN NO FAITH
